Artist Statement
存在はやがて失われる。肉体は焼かれ、形を失う。
針金、アルミ皿、土、紙。日常の素材は、焼かれ、剥がされ、画面に置かれることで、別の姿を帯び始める。形は変わる。その変容の中に、存在が続いていく気配がある。
白い画面は、何も始まっていない場所であり、すべてが消えた後の場所でもある。そこに素材を置き、絵具を重ね、焼き、剥がす。そして、穴を穿つ。存在を支える面そのものに、欠落が開く。
失われた存在は、どこかに在り続けるのか。その問いから制作している。
Existence is lost. The body is burned, its form undone.
Wire, aluminum plates, soil, paper. Everyday materials—burned, peeled, placed—begin to take on another form. Forms change. Something remains within that transformation.
A white surface is where nothing has begun, and where everything has already disappeared. I place materials, layer paint, burn, and peel. And I pierce a hole—an opening in the very ground that holds existence.
Does what is lost remain somewhere? I work from that question.

1986年東京生まれ。針金、アルミ、土、紙、漆喰といった日常の素材を、焼く、剥がす、穴を穿つといった行為によって変容させ、存在の喪失とその継続を問うミクストメディア作品を制作している。Idemitsu Art Award 2025(国立新美術館)、シェル美術賞2017入選。東京で個展を3回開催。2005年より役者としても活動し、フェスティバル/トーキョーにおけるジェローム・ベル、ユン・ハンソル(グリーンピグ)の舞台作品、シアトル国際映画祭招待作品『2045 Carnival Folklore』(加藤直輝監督)に出演。身体を用いた表現の経験は、身体の消失を扱う現在の平面作品の基層にある。
Born in Tokyo in 1986. Hayashi creates mixed-media works that transform everyday materials—wire, aluminum, soil, paper, plaster—through acts of burning, peeling, and piercing holes, questioning the loss of existence and its continuation. Selected for the Idemitsu Art Award 2025 (The National Art Center, Tokyo) and the Shell Art Award 2017. He has held three solo exhibitions in Tokyo. Active as an actor since 2005, he has appeared in stage works by Jérôme Bel and Yun Hansol (Greenpig) at Festival/Tokyo, and in 2045 Carnival Folklore (dir. Naoki Kato), an official selection of the Seattle International Film Festival. His experience in embodied performance underlies his current two-dimensional work, which deals with the disappearance of the body.
